First Nations
Tsu-ma-uss (Hupacasath, Tseshaht) gill-nets – Sunday June 15th 12 pm to Thursday
June 19th 12 pm from Papermill Dam to Hook Bay.
Hook and Line – 7 days a week from Papermill Dam to Hook Bay except for Papermill
Dam Pool.
Tseshaht Communal Drag Seine – Papermill Dam Pool Friday June 13th and Saturday
June 14th daily 5 am to 2 pm and, Sunday June 15th 5 am to 12 pm
Hupacasath communal gillnet - Fri June 13th 10 pm to Sat June 14th 5am from Polly
Point to Ten mile Point, Saturday June 14th 5 am to 2 pm and Sunday June 15th 5 am to
12 pm from the Hupacasath canoe dock in the Somass River downstream into the Inlet
to Ten Mile Point. (Limited to designated boats only)
Maa-nulth – June 13th to June 19th The harvest plan includes the contracting of
designated Area D Gillnet vessels to harvest sockeye. These vessels will be displaying
Maa-nulth identification flags.
Commercial
Area D Gill - Tuesday June 17th net fishery will open 14 hours from 6 am to 8 pm, from
the Bamfield line to the Pocahontas line.
Area B Seine - Possible fishery week of June 23rd depending on escapement and catch
levels. There will be a closed area for seines as agreed to by the Area 23 Harvest
Committee. This area is subject to adjustment by the committee in-season. The
current seine closed area will be bounded in the north by a line from Dunsmuir Point to
the pilings north of China Creek and, in the south by a line drawn from Hocking Point
easterly to the opposite shore.
Recreational
• May 1 until further notice 4 sockeye per day in Area 23 except the tidal portions
of the Somass River which are 2 per day. The tidal portion of the Somass River
is closed 10 pm to 5 am daily.
• June 11 Finfish closure Papermill Dam Park pool
• June 15 -30 experimental sockeye fishery near service Road Somass Park
