Kicker Overheated

In addition to what PF said. Most engines have cam ground pistons which are actually oval shape until they get to temperature. They become round at that point.

Fired up my motors yesterday in the driveway - which I like to do periodically in the winter - and the Yamaha T-8 was peaing hot (I estimate 90 degrees F.) out of the telltale, but flowing nice and cool out of the prop exhaust.
The 9.9 Yamahas used to have a problem with plugging up, but hadn't heard of any issues with the t-8's.
Will see what SG says on Monday.

An extra beer last night IFL?
Point was, even though the tell tale may be stuttering or running hot, it's the discharge out of the exhaust through the prop that is important.
And you don't want me working on my own motor - with my mechanical skills I can only see disasters ahead, besides, if I fixed it myself, I might end up selling it off to you someday. You may not want me to have touched the motor, mechanically speaking.

Cheers
