Hockey Pool

So is there any interest out there for a Hockey Pool??

I want to combine it with the BC hunting site and get a good one going, but if we get enough interest, say 15 people, I can run them separate.

I will leave it until Sun night and if I get enough, I will set one up. If not enough, I will combine it with the hunting site (if there is enough interest there as well).

It will be free as on line hockey pools that offer $$$ for prizes is deemed gambling[?].

It will be an easy one; 15 forwards, 4 def and one goalie.

Let me know by saying ya on here, no PM as I will not be checking them until Mon.

Cheers

There is interest on HBC and on here, so I will combine them into one as it will be easier to manage.

So after a lot of thought, some beers and more thinking, I have decided to use a b a s terdized version of the the open draw by adding three boxes as well.

The draw will be for 20 players/goalie
a min of 4 defencemen
1 goalie
One player has to be a rookie
That means you can have 15 forwards, 4 defense and one goalie or 12 forwards, 7 defense and a goalie....etc. You can mix and match any combo, but you need to have a min of 4 defense and one goalie.

You can only pick one player from the each box below, the rest you can pick yourself. The boxes are set up on the TSN estimated top point getters for this year. This will see how good you are at picking the 60-80 pt scorers......[:p]

The three boxes are as follows

Box 1

Sidney Crosby - Pit
Alex Ovechkin - Wash
Henrik Sedin - Van
Ilya Kovalchuk - NJD
Martin St Louis - TB

Box 2

Evgeni Malkin - Pit
Nicklas Backstrom - Wash
Steve Stamkos - TB
Daniel Sedin - Van
Brad Richards - Dal

Box 3

Patrick Kane - Chi
Ryan Getzlaf - Ducks
Alexander Semin - Wash
Joe Thornton - SJ
Marian Gaborik - NYR

Points are as follows

Forwards - 1 point for goal/assist and 2 for a hat trick.
Defense - 2 points for a goal, 1 for an assist and 5 for a Hat trick
Goalie - 2 points for a win, 5 for a shut out, 2 for an assist and 5 for a goal.

We will use Pickuphockey.com

Please send me your team, including your SFBC name and team name to

Sitka102003@gmail.com

Deadline is midnight Oct 10th. I am going moose hunting on the first, so I will not be around until then to enter them. This gives you time to look over the teams, see what rookie is going to be playing etc.

The fine print....

The team you enter is the team you will have to stick with for the full year. If you pick a player like Mark Streit, you are sh$t out of luck.....do some research and see who is injured, who is not playing this year and make your choices accordingly.
There is no substitutions...period:D

I will post the password and such when I register the teams.

Any questions...........let me know. While I am gone, the majority will answer any questions.

Good luck to all and let the team bashing begin........[:0][:p]

Cheers

sounds good but i have a few questions about points...2 on top of the 3 for the hatrick? and 5 on top of the hatrick for defense?........love the rookie aspect....holmes*

Holmes

If a defenseman scores a hat trick, it would be 11 points - 3 goals x 2 pts = 6 + the 5 for the hat trick. Forward would be 5 - 1x3=3+2=5 total.

Make any sense????

I mentioned this over on the other site where Ken has put up this pool.

Anyone have a definitive list of the rookie class? We can't really make a pick until we see who is "up" and who is "down".

Also...is a rookie going to be defined "never" played an NHL game or one who has met the qualificatoins to be considered for "Rookie of the Year".

I found the following summary of what constitutes and NHL rookie.

quote:To be eligible for the award, a player cannot have played more than 25 games in any single preceding season nor in six or more games in each of any two preceding seasons in any major professional league. The player must not be older than 26 years before September 15 of the season in which he is eligible.

I think we can go with what Pippen has posted as a def of a rookie.

Also, you have to a min of one rookie, but you can pick more if you want.

Also, only ONE goalie per team.

Me too, I think I screwed up and put a player on that was in one of the boxes after I already chose somone from one of those boxes

I made a "boo-boo" and missed the deadline....but as far as I know or assume, Ken is still away hunting. Haven't seen him on any of the forums as of yet after his trip.
