They're meant to be exposed to moisture. Last thing you should be worried about. It's rated for marine applications 
I left our plotter inside the boat in the driveway awhile during winter storage, kept walking by it, figured I should take it out finally - not worth the risk. It's locked really well, but like anything if they want it badly enough they will get it. They are easy to steal.
