costco downrigger combo

Any opinions on this combo? I've never seen fishing stuff in our Costco before. Shimano TDR 8'6" with Shimano Tr200G reel. Good for kids/wives or as a spare rod or halibut in a pinch? $89.95

I like them myself. I use the same Penn 330gti's for trolling and bottom fishing. I'd never go back to single action.

BTW its way easier to chase a seal down who's got your only bite of the day in it's mouth with a level wind type JMO

and the tdr rods are good, but i run Penn 320s off em.

I too prefer knucklebusters and fish with them most of the time plus the debate has been done on here before. Just wondering if the combo mentioned is worth having in the boat for a guy that only gets to the coast 2-3 times per year.

You got that right, I spent more in a year FIXING the damn 330's then I spent on 'em.

I've had my 330 GTI's for about 3 yrs. Never had a problem and never lost a fish due to the reel. I think I would have to drive over my 330's to break em.

Got that reel and I've dragged in a bunch of salmon with it. Price is sure right[8D]. If I were in the market for another level wind that would be very tempting.
