Comox valley and area herring

OBD and I went for a ride in the sunshine today scouting out herring for butt bait . Baynes Sound has a few scratches , with no signs of spawning yet. BUT.... There is a HUGH school of herring off Bowser and over towards Norris Rock. ( Been a while since I had to estimate tonnage by sounding, but I am sure it was over 10,000 tons) The school is down at 450 ft and extends from the bottom to 380 feet in depth. Rafts of Stellars sealions are getting stuffed. We estimated around 1000 of the big boys (and girls) in the area.

No guarantee that the herring will spawn in the Bowser/Lambert channel areas, but not a bad guess.

If anyone on the board gets wind of herring spawning in the next few weeks, please give a shout on the board.
