Any tips for Comox lake?

Never tried fishing in Comox Lake. Want to give the boat a good freshwater bath so thinking of giving it a shot.

Any suggestions or tips?

Far end of lake on other side near pilings.
Troll a plug painted to resemble a Kokanee (Sockeye red body green head) on a long line with a small weight around the shallows where the Kokanee spawn.

The guy who told me that showed me pics of six pound plus Cutties he'd caught that way, so I must presume that method works.
