Anchor rope advice

any northern metalic store has it in bulk you can get them to braid the end for you as well but i would use 1/2 rope

Was wondering if anyone has some good advice on where to buy nylon anchor rope. Live in Alberta so I have been looking online. Also is 3/8 solid or twisted heavy enough for a 23ft fiberglass http://m.uline.ca/mt/www.uline.ca/BL_3913/Nylon-Rope?un_jtt_redirect

Rope is the overwhelming favorite, usually with a length of chain at the anchor end. Use nylon rope only. Nylon rope is strong, light, easy to handle, and elastic, the latter a most desirable characteristic in an anchor rode. Three-strand offers the dual advantages of greater elasticity and lower cost, but ... for stowage, the added flexibility of braided nylon can make it a better choice.

Others online, too: http://www.ebay.ca/itm/BOAT-ANCHOR-...at_Parts_Accessories_Gear&hash=item4cf001cef7
Made-up w/ eye and thimble <$150 delivered to your door. 7/16 or 1/2" braid is best. Easy to handle and stow, as Wildwest said; 150' minimum. 25 ' - 3/8" galvanized chain from anchor to rode with thimble - use a moused shackle.

I have 200' of 1/2" Sampson Goldbraid that has given good service for over 25 years - always stowed away from sunlight. When it gets grubby I put it in the washer - comes out like new!

My fishing partner picked up 600 feet of double braid. What's the best way to attach it to the anchor chain if I'm using an anchor retriever ring?

video for double braid. You'll have to put the chain on before closing the splice of course.
If your line came with loops spliced in already, a small shackle with most of the tab hacksawed off (wrench it tight first)so it doesn't catch on the ring and a groove for a big screwdriver sawn in for easier removal is what I would do. And if I was really gung ho I would drill a hole and secure the pin from backing out with a few loops and twists of thin stainless wire.
