1997 4 Stroke Suzuki 9.9 Corrosion Issue

Hey guys, just picket up this motor for $100 and you can see why in the pics. Motor is fine but leg casing has a hole in it. Was told it still ran fine. Any ideas on what caused this and if JB weld is a suitable fix for it? Never seen corrosion or whatever this is that bad. Anyways any input, thoughts, advice and or ideas would be much appreciated! Thanks for reading.

i have a 2007 df 9.9 parts motor that your welcome to if you want, been sitting in my garage for a few years now collecting dust. The motor was submerged and the block itself beyond repair but there are lots of good parts left including the leg. Not sure if it will fit the 1997. Let me know if your interested.

Sorry guys, kinda let this fall by the wayside but if this is still available would like to try and arrange to pick it up of ya! Let me know, I just started tearing mine apart and need some carb parts that I think will be the same.
