My '86 115 I6 wont start.

I planned to start the fishing season tomarrow but i went to crank the engine (battery is fully charged) and it wouldnt crank. I Tried lifting it and it wounldnt lift. When I goto crank it and lift it, it makes the same sound. Kind of like a Welder makes. and when i try to lower it, it makes a errrr noise but doesnt lift the engine at all Or crank the engine.

I replaced 2 solionids today but still makes the same noise. A great way to start off the season

Any ideas on what it could be???

Assume you have checked this but I've had loose battery connections make the same sound and have the same results. Could be simply loose or have some corrosion in the connection. Remove, clean and tighten a little more than hand tight.

may be a litle late butttt, norrow it down first.Cross the leads at the start solenoid and see if it starts. Then work back from there. If not at first stage check full power supply. CHECK EVERY GROUND
