Calgary Born Fishing Legend Gary Cooper Coming Home!By Oak Bay Marine Group,
Calgary born and raised Fishing Legend Gary Cooper is coming home as a guest of Pedder Bay RV Resort and Marina to attend the Calgary RV show next weekend. Gary started his career as a producer of educational videos on sport fishing in 1984. His first video was called the “Hakai Experience” and featured a woman catching her first fish ever, a 52 pound Chinook Salmon. The video was filmed at an Oak Bay Marine Group Resort in Hakai Pass BC, and went on to be produced into four languages. In 1988 Gary started the television series “Gary Cooper’s Fishing Diary” and in 1999 he changed the name to “Nice Fish.” “Nice Fish is a series that is more human interest than just fishing” says Cooper.
Gary has travelled and filmed from as far north as Dutch Harbour to as far south as the upper Amazon, – as far east as Bermuda and as far west as Thailand. Guests have included everyday people as well as some well-known names like the Late Alberta Premier Ralph Klein and Hockey Legend Valadisov Tretiak. “Nice Fish” has enjoyed broadcasts over the years on OLN, Sportsnet, Wild TV, ACCESS Alberta, Global, CHEK Vancouver Island and The World Fishing Network. It has been distributed in countries including Russia, Finland, Slovakia, North Africa, Greece, United States, Taiwan and Korea.
Gary also produced Sport Fishing on the Fly, Nice Fish Junior, Nice Fish Senior, and The Lodge. In total his production credits over the last 26 years encompasses over 1000 productions.
Gary will be available to talk to his many friends and viewers at the Pedder Bay RV Resort and Marina booth (#236) at the Calgary RV Show from January 29 to February 1. The show takes place at the BMO Centre in Stampede Park. Many of Gary’s older programs (including the Premier Ralph Klein episode) can be viewed at www.youfish.tv
