This remote wilderness area, approximately 50 miles
north of Bella Bella provides excellent Chinook Salmon
runs from June through to late August.
Those that know this area have tried to keep it their
own secret, but fishing out of Klemtu is beginning to
be recognized as rivaling any on the Coast. Besides
the noteworthy Chinook fishery, local coho are also
available from June through to the Fall, with Northerns
(northern Coho) showing up in the latter part of July
and taking bait through the end of August and early
September.
The waters of Laredo Sound produce fine Halibut fishing
as well, and provide a stunning backdrop for the abundant
wildlife of the area.
Anglers can look forward to whale sightings, as well
as porpoises and other marine mammals. Black bear and
deer proliferate along the shore, while the many islands
and channels provide comfortable, protected fishing.
Access to this area is by float plane only, due to
its remoteness. This will lend itself to a memorable
wilderness fishing experience that you will not soon
forget.
