2016 Alberni Inlet

Slow going for me yesterday but boxed 2 beauty coho, each over 10lbs and very scrappy.
100' on #4 Cop Car.
Sproat to Hocking.

Many boats running 4 rods.

IT has really turned around the last four days. The few evening I've been out have been quite consistent with a bite around 7 and at dark. The morning have been quite good with most boats in my marina limiting out.lone tree to the nasrrows at 25 to 35 feet.Enjoy the double headers

Fishing is getting good. Talked to two boats today when coming in from the outside and the one had 4 springs, biggest at 28 lbs, the other had 5 sockeye and a coho and had lost 2 springs

No one would be happy to eat my words more then me. But its august 7..... and there has been pretty much zero life in the sound all summer. I am not a biologist, but I highly doubt its all of sudden going to turn on when some of the fish in the sound right now are already turning color... Sure there has been a few decent days and the odd fish being caught, but the amount of skunks coming from regular sporties, guides and everyone else far out weighs the fish.

Would you like ketchup or hot sauce when you eat your words??

Lol so I'm wrong because there is ONE decent report from the inlet out of the last 15 pages? Makes sense. I'm sure there will be some more good/decent reports over the next 2 weeks and there you have your season. 2 weeks out of 52. HOT.

Good luck to everyone out there, the sound has turned on pretty good for the folks I know in the last few days, so I'm sure the inlet is sure to follow. But run of the decade.... NOT SO MUCH. Be interesting to see what the marketing ploy for 2017 is!

ahahha ... so nice not to have you back again... if u were in the know actually its been pretty dam good for over a week..:cool:

Its definitely obviously a record garbage year. That is no where near an argument. Not saying fish can't and won't be caught. Lets just hope the right corrections are made pertaining to management moving forward. Maybe fisheries has a beefs and bouquets thread haha?

Wow, hard to figure this out, is it decent in the inlet or not?

I have not fished it my self, but I know folks who live In port, and fish all the time. There are fish in the inlet, but over all its hit or miss. Some boats are getting them, Most are not. The sound however is doing very well the last few days and some of these fish are being caught pretty far up the sound meaning they are most likely stamp fish meaning the inlet should continue to improve daily. If iwas to fish the inlet I would wait till the last week of aug, first of sept. Regardless of how the run end up the bulk of whatever fish are coming will be there then most likely

Signed,

In the know

Thanks for the hands on report. Much appreciated. We might try an evening fish during the week.

Looking forward to our alberni trip at the end of August! Thanks for the reports guys!

Quick question:
I have moored my 17ft fibreglass at a few marinas before for 4 days and never had an issue. This year China creek says I need 2 million liability insurance on the boat in order to keep it their. Now I called an insurance place and they quoted me 400$ for the year. My boat is only worth 5k so does not make much sense to do that. What do you other small vessel operators do?

I had my boat in the marina at China creek for a week in July and they never asked for any insurance, I also have a spot booked for next weekend, and they didn't mention anything about insurance when I booked yesterday either.

started down in the canal ..slow for me and didn't see much action around me...not to say some didn't get them in other area's :)
