Okanagan sockeye 2022

Folks who know more than me: will you start out running flashers or dodgers?
I used to run dodgers but got humbled badly 2 years ago and went home short 1 fish. Everyone claimed ya gotta have moon jelly on your flashers. Well next day out with new flashers we were the first boat off the water with our 4. I run about 18-20" leaders, pink uv squirts, 50 lb leaders to help add to the whip and 6/0 owner hooks. Lost so many on the 2/0-4/0 gammys and ran the big gaff hook which produced meat on the deck. Getting close now guys, I can't wait!

I started running tandems off the Fraser and rarely lose fish now. I just have lots of squirts tied up for quick resets.

I have both dodger and flasher setups ready to go, I guess I could get all experimental and run one of each for the first tack. Also will have some kone zones off the cannonballs for extra aggro.

More flash the better... if you get a good "bitey" school going you should have your limit in minutes. If you're out on tuesday feel free to text me and keep in touch.

Yep Tuesday it will be. Get some socks and then prep boat and gear for departure to tidewater on Friday.

Plenty of socks already up in Skaha. Test dropping my dummy flasher setup this morning, hooked one at 2.0 mph. Sped up to 2.5 but the other rod hooked up anyway. Quick release on both and kept the gear out of the water after that.

Lots of marks, and these are just the precocious fish. Osoyoos must be frickin stacked.

Single barless for all salmon fishing in fresh water bud. 1 hook!

That’s straight from the fisheries notice. If it was supposed to be a single barbless hook, it would look like this. “A single, barbless hook is required when fishing for salmon in non-tidal waters of bc.” I don’t know why they don’t change the wording because the way that it’s worded means you can fish a dual, single hook setup

Damn good catch... why do we need lawyers to dicipher this regs now in this day and age. I"m running 1 single in the morning... I"m not dealing with a CO on a power trip. Real lawyers cost money to fight them. You coming out FD?
