Tried every other combo on other rod, flasher colours, hootchie colours, spoons, anchovies, nada...salmon only wanted that one combo. So much for the theory that winter springs will bite on whatever is put in front of them.
Salmon's bellies were full of small herring.
Beauty calm morning, warm, sometimes sunny.
Hhhhmmm, you ever think of trying herring

Funny, herring is not typically something I bring along...anchovies seem to be "herring-like" enough to meet the need around here. But might be something to consider!
Last few weeks, they haven't been picky about what they bite. Sat was first day in a long time that I've brought bait aboard at all...as a "just in case". |

Any Sooke reports today? I was on Whiffen Spit in the afternoon, beauty day...sunny, a cool offshore breeze. At the time, wishing I had planned my day better to get out there... Ah well.
Looked to be about 10 boats out.

A quick hour and a half fish out front of the Harbour today. Trolled from Possession to the Tin Shed, only one bite. A wee little guy who will hopefully grow to a tyee in 3 or 4 more years.
Bite was in front of tin shed, 125 on downrigger in 120 ft depth, on anchovie in nosebleed teaser head, super betsy flasher (with glow strip). Unfortunately, not enough time to see if there were more down there.
2 other boats out, didn't see anything caught.
Nice sunny day! Though a bit of current and SE wind chop.
