Opportunity to provide advice on the draft IFMPs

Subject: FN0250-Salmon: Draft 2009/10 Northern and Southern B.C. IFMPs - April 20 Deadline for Feedback

Further to FN0185, the Department has released the 2009/2010 draft Northern and
Southern B.C. Salmon Integrated Fishery Management Plans (IFMPS) for comment.
Copies of these draft documents are located on the DFO Consultation Secretariat
web site at:

The draft plans set out the policy framework that guides decision making,
general objectives relating to management of stocks of concern, enhancement and
enforcement, as well as decision guidelines for range of fisheries. Plans for
First Nations, recreational and commercial fisheries, as well as, evaluations
from the 2008 fishing season are also included.

In the coming weeks, the Department will be meeting with First Nations and the
recreational, commercial and environmental sectors to receive advice on the
draft IFMPs. The deadline for providing feedback to the Department on the
draft IFMPs is April 20, 2009. Comments may be provided in writing via mail
addressed to: DFO - Salmon Team, Suite 200 – 401 Burrard Street, Vancouver, BC,
V6C 3S4 or via email to Kelly.Binning@dfo-mpo.gc.ca or to the local DFO office
in your area.
