    Are there any used marine shops on the island carrying used downriggers, nets and other gear etc.??

    There is a place in Merville, (between Courtenay and Campbell River) that carries gov't surplus but also has a bit of fishing gear as well. I've seen downriggers and such in there. If you're looking, I've got two Scotty manuals up for sale. 24" I beleive.
