Stamp on FIRE
Returned from the North a couple ago - hunt GREAT, the Kechika marvellous and productive! Hit the Riv yest - 75 fish for 3 rods in 5 hours. The flow of hoes and springs is steady, and most are chrome.
Time to get there is NOW! Heading out in 1/2 hour to do some more. Expect a few weeks of this brilliant action to follow, so get there if you can!

Robert or Matt, do either of you have any current water levels on the stamp??? How much has it come up in the past three or four days, can a jet boat make it up the back channel behind the Island infront of the somass launch??? Was up there a week ago, lots of chrome coho in the lower system, unable to make them hit spinner's in the low warm water. Had lots of luck doing the lining thing with Dave's boats, but no takers on the hardwear. I expect the water has cooled off but are you dooing the lining thing in fast water or are they hitting spinner's/spoons now?? Where are you guys fishing as of late??? Swanny's??? above/below??? Sorry for all the questions, trying to decide to do the NitNat or the Stamp in the next couple. Wondering if some Coho have moved into the Nitty with this rain?? Any info would be appreciated, who knows maybee we'll cross paths on the flow..Thanx in advance guys!!

Fishin' fantatsic again yest! No large blackies, but several smaler were closely examined <img src=icon_smile_wink.gif border=0 align=middle>
DHA One spring > 77 cm, one under, two coho hatch or wild.
Roe Bags The water has not risen any noticeable amount in the last few days. The ground appears to be sucking up all the moisture the sky water produced. Jet rig would be really tough under these conditions. Water has cooled somewhat, and the fish are becoming more aggressive as a result. About 1/3 of ours on spinners the last two, with the balance lined. The Bucket has been very good, as has Butch's Bar and the pullout. Heading to Nitty in less than an hour - bears and springs, maybe a hoe or two. Letcha know what we see.

I was there at first light this morning and stayed for about two hours. There were ten other people at the same place as me.
I was trying my luck with an 8 wt. fly rod and glow bugs (okay, so I am different). Everyone else was using the typical casting gear with float and pencil lead (yarn colours included: green, red, even one guy using blue).
I caught nothing.
Everyone else was catching lots. Many beautiful coho were landed. All seemed to be bigger than 10 pounds. All looked chrome and bright to me.
I even saw some sockeye released and some small springs released.
By my guess, a third of these fish were flossed. I am pleased to say that I saw all of the obviously snagged fish released. This was generally speaking a good crowd of fishermen (either that or the fact that there were so many people watching that they felt obligated to follow the regulations).
I am going back with my fly rod again tomorrow morning because I am both stupid and stubborn.

Fished Wed., tonnes of hoes in the 8-12lb. class. Some springs, but finicky on everything. Mostly flossed but a few aggresive types as well.
Any foe on the Nitty would be much appreciated. I'd imagine the place is an absolute ditch.thanx-the dirtdog

Drop me an E, lets get together for a chat when you're in.
Stamp was really hot again this am, the Natural just phoned - ~ 70 for 2 rods, and limits all 15 plus! Nice. Had to sleep in, too tired, but we'll get there after the weekend warriors depart.
NitNat Friday (yest):
The upper Nitnat was deviod of both water, fish and bears. Lower, down below the Hatchery (same side of riv) there was loads of all. Water still low, but lots of springs. About 60 % coloured BUT 40 % still bright and damn feisty! The rumour from the hatchery ladz is there are fresh coho in the hatchery pool, but we did not see/hook any.
Anyway, probably worthwhile to work the lower, you'll get into hog springs for sure, and hoes should be arriving in catchable numbers any moment.

Get out the step ladder! HERE THEY COME, Who Hoo! Coho Meat Fishery Extravaganza. The finest linery in the west, good times had by all the bankies lined up by the hundreds along the banks.

Well put Mad Dog.
I was there again this morning. The "linery" was in action. On the stretch of the river that I was on there was probably 15 - 20 guys fishing with the typical gear and yarn. This was the first time that I witnessed so many people hooking fish on heavy gear and then just dragging them to the shore to be bonked. Where's the sport in that?
Other than me, there was only one other guy fly-fishing (he was from Switzerland).
I had a couple of fish on the line and a smile on my face. On an 8 wt. fly rod, a 10 pound Coho makes for some excitement.
