im coming to vancouver ....im bringing a travel 4 pc fly rod 8/9 wt , never been a fly guy so want to bring
right line for fishing your pristine waters , sold kayak and gear due to being to expensive to ship also looking to buy a used set up kaskazi/ultra type yak ...
any advice will be a bonus

69 views and no responses and I know why-no one wants to burst your bubble but it's been 100 years since waters here were pristine.
A kayak might be fun to fish from around the city but don't expect to catch much-Salmon are thin in the water and groundfish were scraped clean decades ago-you'll need to go some distance for the kind of action you envision.
Best thing to do is wait until your here and either go to Pacific Angler or Michael and Young and talk to them about a suitable line for your needs.

i am goin to fish around vancouver , will be heading up to a wee place called terrace ..it does look a wee bit "fishy"and in the sticks , so hopefully they ve left a couple for me , any advice [even the stuff you dont wanna hear] is is well taken and thanks for your time on this ...
Lots of pressure up @ Terrace too-but lots more choice of spots to fish and usually more fish too.

It's difficult to answer your question because there are too many unknowns like; What waters will you be fishing? (rivers, lakes, both?) What time of year? What species?
You mention fishing from the bank, for the most part this is impractical. You will want to use chest waders and wade and/or use a boat.
I suggest you do some research on the internet and look for some books on the subject. If you can afford it, I would recommend hiring a guide especially for river fishing for steelhead.
I caught my first steelhead on a fly on the Skeena River near the Kitwanga bridge, an area easily accessible by car.
