Check the connections at your battery terminals. Sounds very much like a bad ground connection. Remove all connections at the battery (pos and neg), clean with a wire brush and reattach firmly. I bet that fixes it.
So I went out Saturday fishing, by myself, and had a great day. Called my brother and thought I would see if he wanted to come out this morning. We get everything packed up and fire the motor up and head on our way. Realized I should probably top up the fuel tank for the kicker I head over to the marine gas bar. After filling up I go to start the engine and nothing, nada, no go. Try the trim and nothing either.
I check all the fuses in the fuse panel and they were all good. Mess around with it for a bit and get the trim to work on the motor itself. I figured it was a loose wire. Go to fire up the engine and nothing, check the trim again and nothing there. So I limped back to my slip and tied back up realizing my day was done. I was able to get the engine to start once but then the warning signals came on. Got it to trim up and down a couple times but then that stopped again.
I know the battery isn't dead because my VHF, sounder, lights and downrigger were all still working. Anyone have an idea of what might be going on with my engine? Just trying to figure out if I'm missing something simple or if its something more severe and how much it might break the bank?
Thanks in advance guys.

Did you check the kill switch? It might be a possible problem. ..............BB
Something that I was taught years ago, as a young auto mechanic - " The stranger the problem, the more likely it's a ground issue". I would also check all ground (and positive) connections on the motor itself. If you're comfortable with DC electrical and have a good multimeter, you could do resistance and voltage drop tests on each of the main circuits, or just undo each ground and power connection / bolting point, then thoroughly clean and re-attach. Good luck !!
Sent from my iPad when I should be fishing.
Sometimes the connections just are not tight enough, I have had this happen to me. Hopefully you just need to tighten them up.
Once you get it fixed, get yourself some Boeshield. It was designed to protect electrical connections on aircraft where failures are even more problematic than on boats.
It has also been proven for saltwater marine use.
