    Boat registration question

So here is the situation I'm in

I was giving a boat and trailer by a friend. The trailer was registered in their name and has been transferred to me so I can register. Here comes the problem. When they bought the boat they never registered it because the previous owner from them never did for years aswell. Transport Canada could not find any information on the boat when they tried. Soooo now I have the boat, how do I go about getting it properly registered and numbered?

if transport Canada has no info on it I would apply as a new registration then
and get new BC numbers and away you go.

Thank you. I'll give it a try and see what happens

Seeing as the previous owner never did this, should I mark it down as a new registration or abandoned?

I'm not too sure? It was free so there really shouldn't be tax anyways. I got the gift form for the trailer. Maybe I'll call them and ask what they suggest

I would think because it no longer exists in thier database they will tell you to do it as a
    new registration
