    Halibut is over.

    Sadly, our season is done.
We fed dogfish for 2 hours, then a tide change
and a 45 lb Halibut hit.
A long wait till next March

    anybody else out ?

Let's hope we don't have to wait until next March.

We sat on anchor on Constance West for many hours. stopped counting the dogs after 20ish. They even hit our mudrake with no bait. No hali's. March is a long time to wait.

Went out to the west coast for 2 chickens. Left a large there with my hali rig in it's mouth.
It only cost me a sore right elbow and sore left wrist for a few pounds of meat.
Not paying some slipper skipper for my Halibut,,, Priceless.

I got out over the weekend to constance. Sat on the pick all day saturday. 2nd hali trip this year, 3rd all time in my boat. Have not had any luck yet. Maybe next year? I might have to start a beginners hali progress thread like englishmans. It would probably help if I got out more than 2 times over the season but I planned to target them more sept - oct. I guess that is a bad plan when DFO is in charge.

    Jockey,

Stay with it! I had to teach myself over two seasons how to find and catch them. Then on the thrid season, it all clicked. Like any fishery it ebbs and flows as this year was the worst for me since I started hali fishing - only two in 5 or 6 trips. Oh well better than dealing with the paper in the office! Not an expert by any means but feel free to PM if you want some tips that work for me. Good luck next year all! Until then, bring on the Ho's!!
