Been hearing some pretty good reports from Renfrew over the past few days.
Excellent spring salmon fishing off Logan Creek, into the 20s and maybe one 30 pounder.
Lots of halibut out towards Carmanah and Swiftsure, some decent size. A couple of slower days, then once found them couldn't keep them off...same old story!
Super crabbing in the bay.
A few pictures from Des at Vicious Fishing:

Makes me hungry to get out there ...

Notice the "out towards Carmanah and Swiftsure" comment?
Hear's a tip that I shouldn't get yelled at for sharing? That area is mostly "gravel/sand" bottom! The trick to Swiftsure is stay out of the "mud" bottom areas and in the sand/gravel!
If you look at your charts... and draw a line 225 degrees from the Carmanah light to the Swiftsure closure, "north" of that line will have mostly gravel/sand/rock bottoms... south will be mostly mud! Just fish the gravel/sand and look for any of the "humps"!
I have had most of my luck out more towards Swiftsure, but if you really want to fish closer to Carmanah, just find the gravel/sandy bottoms. If you happen to run a heading of 265 degrees, 4nm off the light, you'll probably find a small hump - it shows on the charts. Depending on your tides the water will go from 145/150 feet down to 190/200 back up to about 165/175 feet. That is probably the area I would fish? I bet you will find a nice gravel/sandy shoal there, also! [:I]
