I bought this box at a charity auction in Sooke, only to find it is about 1cm too big to fit in my hold....DOH!
Passing it on for what I paid, $40, OBO.

Sooke Rotary fundraiser, three donations by members of the local community that members might want to bid on:
1. Sooke Salmon Fishing, 4 hours plus crabbing, donated by West Isle Fishing...
I think they were testing out the new Gibbs spoons. 4" ones is my guess, from photo below (hope it works).
...
And just to get back to fishing ... I don't have a proper report, but Hourston (Hindsight) posted this photo last week ... gets the imagination going, as more than just halibut in Renfrew right now...
Renfrew made a pretty good attempt at this a couple years ago, I recall made the short list in the first round. It was the second round of voting where they couldn't compete...the Ontario town beat...
Pursuing a vision requires creativity and courage. It requires investing money and mistakes will certainly be made along the way, you'll never get it 100% right the first time. Sooke's past...
These questions may be premature, but as you have proposed this society, so I am curious as to your vision of it.
What do you mean by "out of pocket" in this context? Do you mean for...
Seems there's a few competing idea swirling around here.
Is the goal to pay back the Sooke Council for the capital investment?
Or is the goal to pay for ongoing expenses (cleaning, extra...
I've been mulling this over for the past week. The boat ramp issues has been an ongoing political gong-show:
-- bumper stickers in the 90s "who do I have to bribe to get a boat launch in Sooke",...
When you frame it like that, the policy is much more palatable. If you ignore the the big-P Politics and just take the current allocation situation as a given, then it makes sense to try and use...
As goofy as that sounds, it probably makes more sense, puts things on an equal footing. The overall quota is based on pounds. The commercial sector works on pounds. Yet the rec sector has this...
The reason it is different is because this "conservation" rule does not apply to the group who is catching 85% of the fish! Requiring the sporties to toss back the big ones just to have them dangle...
Get that gopro into the sea for the underwater view! :-)
Nice video, so calm out there, so easy.
I was involved in a little kiteboarding incident today off Gordons Beach / Otter Point. A buddy ran into trouble with his kite in low wind (10-12kts) and eventually had to release his safeties, let...
That's great!
Though I'm curious how this town of 1,600 can deliver a free ramp, but Sooke's 11,000 population can't? Just sayin' ... ;-)
Good to see your boat out there and to hear that you're back on it!
Put in a solid Sunday with Hourston/Hindsight and found several halibut, 15-47pounds. "West of Carmanah", on anchor. A sunny day, pretty strong south-east wind for a while, a little rough, then...
A fun day last summer in Port Renfrew

There, that's better.
First 2013 halibut photo I've seen so far....No Bananas Trevor hooks a 25 pounder at 830am. Didn't give GPS coordinates, but I'm guessing "Victoria area"
:-)
...
Good eye Roy....it is Trevor's buddy Dan guiding that day....Trevor couldn't make it. Is it still "no bananas" without the "top banana"? ;-)
A day coho fishing in Port Renfrew in September 2012. The day wasn't super spectacular but we found some fun -- 2 of the guys had never fished before, so they were pretty stoked to catch anything. ...
Maybe we've found a new hali lure...just put a hook on it, good to go.
Shows that halibut are not exactly picky eaters....bite it to see if it's edible. I'd love to see what goes on down there...
yeah, the sound transmission surprised me too. I can't remember depth, but pretty sure it is 200' plus. And the clicking of the reel sounds like it is right there beside the camera. Remember...
Here's the gopro halibut footage from Hindsight Fishing. The first one gets away, but notice at 0:28 there's something BIG lurking just out of sight in the background. The 2nd one sticks.
