Nice post. Beautiful river. Sure would be nice to see fish come back. Kudos to the folks who clearly worked very hard to make this dream a reality.
Good, I would like to see the math. 1:1 according to DFO modelling showed us finishing 112,000 pounds under TAC, but cautions were this was based on 2011 catch rates and not adjusted for changes in...
Not that I need to defend the Victoria guys, but frankly I have a much better appreciation for their situation and it seems to me that May 1 would not exactly work for them. That was my point. I do...
Looks to me that the wisest use of the fisheries resource is in fact recreational fishing. The sooner politicians realize that fact, and restructure DFO to better support the recreational sport...
If you are shopping in the US I would go to yachtworld.com Purchased 2 boats using this service. You can save a customer search and get e-mail updates when new vessels matching your search criteria...
Thanks Lorne...version #5.
Wish it was that simple. I'm not from the Victoria area, but did have an excellent conversation with someone on this forum who is. I now have a greater appreciation for their fishery. May 1 start...
lol, I think you have just been had, hook line and sinker....fortunately for you they are using circle hooks, so the release will be easy.
A few observations and personal thoughts after watching this thread.
First, I agree LC and if that is the case, this over under slot won't really impact most anglers regular catch? On the whole...
Thanks GLG, I think there is yet another meeting to drill down to specific runs as further analysis was yet to be completed...or at least that's what I took from a conversation with one of the Area...
Let's hope DFO uses the Halibut Punch Card as an opportunity to finally gather more accurate biological and catch data from the rec fleet. There are too many potential holes, and we have no way to...
I'm personally in favor of making turning in the halibut punch card into DFO at the end of the season as a condition of licensing. Further, I also believe we should be required to record date, place...
Chinook working group hasn't finished the forecast. There was some lost data. Loose rumblings I heard was similar to last year. Lots of feeders around which is positive.
Sorry, I misunderstood your post. It sounded like you had already run the numbers and could help prove the DFO model was incorrect.
I agree with you. May be one of the arguments that took hold and allow us to press for same TAC as 2012 also. I'm still concerned about large spawning females and impact of removing them on...
Ukee's offered to run the math for us so we can compare the DFO modelling to his analysis. We should relax and give him time to post it.
Fish4all, what's your take on the recruitment concerns expressed by IHPC this year? Would that be by-catch in Alaska?
I'm just curious to see Ukee's math on all the options the SFAB had to choose...
I'm not hiding behind anything Dave. I even offered to speak with you personally - I believe that is accountable, not hiding. As I stated previously, I have nothing to say at this point about the...
I'm not posting anything until the decision and recommendations are put out there through the minutes. It's not my place to speak for the SFAB Main Board on why the decision was made. The SFAB can...
Speaking of transparency.......Babyblew isn't that the name on Lorne's boat?
I'm not hiding anything, I wasn't in the room. I haven't yet seen the final recommendation because the minutes have...
Pretty disgusting. Now lets start a witch hunt and burn everyone who voted on the cross...please stop this garbage. Listen to what you are posting. This is absolute rubbish. Everyone who was...
Nice, yes good idea not to start that voltage thing again...that was a gong show.
I gather you probably have to use s/s wire to run that bottom tracking feature? They are expensive for sure, but like many things in life - you get what you pay for.
Problem with allowing non-resident anglers to catch more during a short stay is that could drive up your use of the TAC considerably. The QCI for example is 44% by weight of the overall Area 2b TAC....
