I think if you need a chart plotter, this unit will suit most needs.
It sounds like the sonar is the problem.

It would run on a separate transducer, so they run independently of each other.
I should mention that the sonar on this unit is designed for fresh water.
It will only read in salt up to about 100' (per west marine )

The idea of running a dummy is that you don't have a flasher attached to your mainline.
therefore when a fish strikes, there is no flasher drag created.

My point is if Fraser fish are in trouble as they obviously are, the whole inside should have the same slot...
