Love it! Thanks for the story. It's safe to say everyone could use more trips like that and few people actually follow through with them.
The winchelsea gap. Not a huge fan of the spot but it holds fish once in a while.
For the naysayers, this weekend was a prime example of why I use tandems on the ECVI. No undersize, two hits, two fish landed and both were hooked well. Poor quality pic but you can see one hook is...
Slept in and fished the low today. Weather sucked and the fishing was slow but managed one teener. Splatterback hootchie took both.

Snuck in a tack (Winchelsea) while on a mothers day cruise this eve. Will give it a real fish tomorrow. I'm thinking of trying the fingers unless its blowing.

Nice fish Brian! Rachel texted me that shot. I still haven't seen the new boat, ill have to pop by sometime.
Glenn thanks for the report, I'm on route home and will be fishing this weekend....
Very cool John!
Wicked! Thanks for that. Just ordered a new pair of freediving fins yesterday and am going to pick up a new gun at the end of the month. Have a vid for ling and hopefully a Hali in the works for the...
Totally misread this. As Klob said Ballenas is a nice option to the south. Jedediah is my favourite but it's a pretty decent run across.
I use tandems on ECVI as we typically only have a few cracks at fish per outing and I rarely hook undersize. They are a hassle but I personally find the hookup ratio a bit better. There is no right...
I'm a firm believer in hootchies having the maximum snap in their rotation. To much metal aka big hooks, swivels etc hurts the action. I tie directly onto the large flasher ring (no swivel) 38 inch...
Pulling your boat off sandbars?
Sangster is still popular with ECVI fisherman. Hit and miss in the last two seasons but when it's on, it can be ripper for springs.
Hey guys how is the visibility these days? Planning to possibly come home and film something underwater that will require a decent viz. cheers.
Straight out until you hit 180-200ft then tack north for a few miles. Keep your gear right on the bottom. Very easy spot to fish.
Well said! This is the easiest way to improve pics.
My season won't be starting until August 1st unfortunately so I will be putting some offshore miles on the tinny! I hope DFO keeps things in and around the river enforced this year.
It would be a dream come true to take something like that up the coast to Alaska!
Damn, that's to bad it had to come to that. Hope we don't get to many gnarly days offshore.
I saw a 15 footer with an old single 60hp Johnson 2 stroke and no kicker fishing big bank (25 miles out) this summer. It was pretty calm but forecasted to blow 35 knots that morning. Did he die? No...
We have been discussing a boat size minimum to try and ensure safety, as we knew some would try to push the boundaries. That boat is not designed for offshore fishing and this is the extreme end of...
Congrats on the win, that's awesome! What did she tape out to?
That many are killed every weekend this time of year down there. I bet the weather limited the catches a bit.
Poked around last week with Jeff. Gnarly weather kept fishing to a minimum but didn't sound ripper anyways. The big wave of American hatch jobs "should" be coming in any time.
For the record I'm friends with David, I just don't agree with his approach. I don't trash any other idividuals although I do call you out on being a joke...
Pm if you have anything else, avoid...
