All I could think of was how stupid they must be to anchor above that sweeper!
I used to fish Kemp lake a lot when I lived there. Try the along the cabins on the west side and by the lillies in the bay at the north end of the lake. I have had success trolling a full sink with...
Best thing you can do is stop at Oscar's in Smithers and ask for information about the river that you plan on floating. The Morice/Bulkley is fairly mellow but I would not recommend floating any of...
Many of them stay in trailers and tents and bring all of their own supplies - that's my whole point! Jeez, this is not new information - do a little research before you make yourself look like an...
Fishmyster - you are dead on. My issues have nothing to do with conservation, they have to do with the quality of fishing. The Skeena returns have been great but overcrowding is definitely an issue -...
No offence intended Stosh, although I can see how I would have offended you. Great to hear that they were going to hire a guide and I hope they enjoy their trip.
I think RF, Lorne, and his other...
Wow - I really think people underestimate the impact of fishing forums. Certain people have provided just enough information on here for Stosh's buddies from California to drive up to the Cowie and...
Wow - those are some interesting conspiracy theories, Fishmyster. Do you think it's possible that the regulations were actually introduced to provide more of an inclusive fishery for the other...
LOL fish nazi-ism... I love it!
Some great points made.
There is all kinds of research out there that clearly outlines the problems with hatchery augmentation. Do a web search on wild vs....
Not to sound ignorant, but aren't you allowed 2 hatchery fish per angler? Have the rules changed? I am out of the loop!
Shutting down the hatchery program on the Cowichan was the best thing they ever did IMHO. Hatcheries produce inferior steelhead that spawn with wild fish and mess with the genetics of the wild...
Great post.
Nice fish. Skeena trib?
Although it is a magnificent steelhead, I have to agree that the photo does not look like a 20+ lb fish. I would have estimated this fish in the mid to high teens. It could be that the photo does not...
Great pics! That's the thing I miss the very most about moving away from Sooke :(
Actually, there are no more truly wild steelhead in the Stamp. All fish are considered to have some kind of hatchery influence.
Very nice fish though!
Wow, I didn't realize there will still people even keeping chinooks in the east coast rivers? I say let 'em all spawn...
Anyone know where the best place is around Victoria to catch dogfish from shore? My 6 year-old is obsessed with sharks and he has been begging me to take him out to get a dogfish. We tried the...
Hi everyone - I'm thinking of coming out to the island and hiring a guide to fish Sooke area July 9 - 12. What's the fishing like at this time of the year? Would it be better to try for halibut?...
Hey on a side note, what's the fishing been like on the Cowie this year? Are there many steelhead around? I remember the year before last a buddy hired a guide for the drift between Stoltz and Vimy...
Wow - nothing above the Campground rapids? That run is as close to a sure thing as you're gonna get!
Whatever happened to Summer Steel? Shouldn't he be piping in right about now? :D
Lens Creek might seem like it has a good flow now but it is just a trickle for most of the year. There are a few cutts and probably a very few summer steelhead and coho in season but other than that...
What's the matter, you don't like fishing with a jet? ;)
