Your Ride

Just wondering...How many boats have you owned (and what where they) and whats your current boat?

To fish or not to fish,
What a stupid question!
Give a man a fish and he will eat for a day, teach a man to fish, and he will sit on a boat drinking beer for a life time :D

On The Beach

Nice job on the Sangster Red, but now that the beast is no longer a red monster, aren't you required to come up with a new moniker? I mean "Red Monster" no longer seems appropriate.

There were lots of family boats, both power and sail, as I was growing up, but the first boat that was actually mine was an 8' punt with oars.

Then, in the mid 70's I bought a late 40's 28' Carver Cabin Cruiser. She was all wood, weighed several tons, and required a ton of upkeep. She eventually sank at the dock, mostly due to neglect on my part. "Last wood boat for me", I said!

16' fiberglass canoe, long gone.

19' home built runabout - another wood boat, but it was 20 years later, and I guess I'd forgotten what I said last time. Being on a trailer made upkeep much easier, though. Also gone.

Now I have a 1994 Bayliner 2452 Express Cruiser with a Mercruiser 305. She's in the water in Sidney most of the year, but I have a trailer and tow her to Sooke and Renny regularly. I just bought a GMC 2500HD diesel, so I'm planning to expand my fishing grounds to points north.

8' inflatable with a 3.5hp Johnson, as a tender for the Bayliner, and also as a lake boat.

OK, see if you can see the trend here...
Moved in Campbell river from the east coast in 94. Discovered salmon fishing in 96 and fell in love with it fishing with friends and relatives.
2000: old 12 foot riveted aluminum with a 10HP Honda (never had to spend a penny on it)
2001: upgraded to a old 14' Starcraft riveted with a 20HP johnson (never had to spend a penny on it)
2002: upgraded to a old 16' Starcraft riveted 80HP evinrude. (Spend a few $ redoing the deck, welding cracks painting etc.) Loved that boat!
2005: upgraded to a 19' 1995 Warrior with a 200 Evinrude(2001) and 9.9 Yamy. Spent a small fortune on toys and upkeep...
Seems like the newer the boat ,the bigger the boat and more expenses on upkeep.
The wife says that at the following rate, I should be in a 30'+ within a decade...

Ratherbefishin...

revived an old post but beauty boat!

8 ft row boat , 12 springbok 7.5 merc , 12 sears aluminum 9.9 evinrude, then upgraded to a 20 Merc, bathtub boat & 9.9, 14 mirrorcraft 25 Johnson, 15.5 Hourston 60hp Johnson, 16.5 K&C 90hp Johnson, 20.5 grew project that never hit the water, 22 K&C another money hole that never hit the water, 22 Welded Aluminum ex crab boat center consol 90hp slow as hell but tough, 24 Searay Laguna twin 150 optimax. Started fishing by myself in a boat when I was about 7yrs old and never stopped. Areas fished growing up Dodd Narrows, Gabriola Pass, Polier Pass, Thrasher, Bamfield, Port Alberni Canal, Port Renfrew and Nitnat Narrows in my 12 ft aluminums. Commercial fished for several summer seasons when I was out for summer break while in school. Dual licenses so we fished the West Coast, but spent most of the commercial time in the Robsonbite area for sockeye. Couldn't imagine life with out being on the water the majority of it. Sorry about the extras so many stories and experiences fishing streams, lakes and seas lol! Brings back many great memories growing up when listing past boats.

Thinking about selling my 24 ft Wellcraft WA its in storage for the Winter but have other options for upcoming season. Anyone interested PM me and I can give you all the details. It will go with everything. Looking at atleast 22G for the right person.
