Your Ride

1ST boat was a belly boat (does that count?).1981 14'Pentastar runabout (should be sold pretty quick).Still excited about my latest,1981 Boston Whaler 18-Outrage c/w 2001 150Hp Optimax.Simrad Gps/fish,Scotty electrics and Icom goodies to be installed soon!See ya out there!

1993 Grady White Marlin 280. Twin 250 Mercs w/9.9 Merc bigfoot kicker.
Bouhgt it in Florida and am still working on it. New downriggers, canvas, electronics.

I had three boats to date:

1) 16 ft. hand made cedar strip canoe,
2) 1970's 16 ft. K&C Thermoglass with a 75hp Merc, (tough, little
boat)
3) 2003 20 ft. Silver Streak Hardtop Welded Aluminum with a 130hp
& 8hp Hondas.

I sure like my Silver Streak, it's a tough, seaworthy boat, great for heading out to Swiftsure in.

Sharp hooks and full traps!

1991 Boston Whaler Montuak with a 50hp 4 stroke Yamaha. Electric downriggers, vhf and sounder.

Bhemi, how did you get your Grady up here? Shipping/Transport or did you trailer it yourself. Thinking about picking up a US boat possibly from the east coast in the future.

got a 22 foot skagit comercial series 250 evinrude
16foot lund with a 50 merc

had a 14' fireball sailboat which i sold two years ago

Have:

16.5 handbuilt whaler with 60 hp Johnson (Large lakes, Georgia Strait, and tube sports)
14' handbuilt cedar strip dory with rowing stations for 2 (lakes)
10' - collapsable pontoon boat for 2 with an electric trolling motor (small lakes or as a tender)

Cheers

Bob

Cant think of all the familys boats while growing up but one was a 28 ft chris craft cabin with 350 inboard.

Mine have been

16 jon boat with 15 hp

12ft delhi with 25 hp johnson , would pull a tub with small child or my 125 lbs friend who was a great skier.

16 ft starcraft with a 50hp that died then a 70hp evenrude.
20 ft starcraft with the same 70hp ev.
16 drift boat alum home made by some one. still have
22 ft 2005 c-dory w/90 hp honda and 9.8 nissan and all the fishing goodies.
I have made money off of every boat that I have owned when I sell them.

teach a man to fish and he will steal all your best spots.

Starcrafttom , how did you like the c-dory ?
Have been looking at one , the 20 ft model, looks nice and roomy inside, my boat right now is an 18 ft Livingston built in the States and has only the two pedestal seats in it , so has a fairly large area for fishing in the stern , but you know we are always looking for the ultimate machine to fit our own specific needs(and we know that every mans needs vary).
Are they fuel efficient ?
Good on a beam sea ?
Depth and freeboard ?
Any other general ideas you may care to share with me, maybe not to detract from the thread here you can email direct ?
Don't want to upset anyone here and I am not really up on the 'puter manners and forms.

i brought mine up from south carolina

To fish or not to fish,
What a stupid question!
Give a man a fish and he will eat for a day, teach a man to fish, and he will sit on a boat drinking beer for a life time :D

Interesting nedarb2. I think with the price of boats in the east coast of the US, and with the Canadian $ up, looks like it's worth paying for fuel and lodging to make the trip. Lots of Grady's down there for decent prices.

12' Spingbok when I was a kid, which I rowed everywhere, cause my dad thought it built character. Caught lots of fish though, esp. coho around Gabriola (early 70's)
30' Gaff ketch
15' Duroboat w/ 30 hp Yammy tiller. That thing would go anywhere, take anything, use almost no gas, and very stable. The kids still wish we had it. Me too on some days.
20' Glasply w/ 190 BMW. Great engine, not for boats. An unhappy experience.

Now, a '95 23 Hourston sedan, 290 volvo duoprop, 9.9 kicker, scotty electrics, hauler, all the good stuff. Great cabin to keep warm and dry crossing the strait, lots of room in the back for fishing. Hourston builds great boats.

The charm of fishing is that it is the pursuit of what is elusive but attainable, a perpetual series of occasions for hope.

I started out with a 12'HarbourCraft with a 7.5 Honda then a 16'Crestliner with a Yamaha 40 horse.I now stalk the coast with a 22'Hewes Craft extended transom 150 Yammie 4 stroker 9.9 high thrust and some boat jewelery(Garmin192c, Furuno Radar, Scotty Power downriggers,Ace Line hauler)and loving every minute I can get out!!Hope to chase some Tuna this Summer !!!

Salmon9, lets just say that with the cost of the transport company to bring it over, taxes at border, and a surprising cost becasue of some mechanical failure, I can still sell it and make a profit. They are aweosme boats, but i wouldnt get anything older than a 92..they have the seav2 hulls in it so they are smoother running, and are more up to date..this winter my project has been new/updating all the wiring, re-do the teak, new bilges, and someother little stuff. . Let me know if i can help you atall or if you want anymore information, ill be glad to help :)

And soon it will have new paint.

What is it

No Dean, it's not a Peetz reel.

Remember, it's called "fishing," not "catching."

By the w/s and deck ,it looks like a double eagle.
The color scheme is that of a sangster or fiberform.
show us another angle.

You have no idea how close it was....
I HATE it when someone else is half a step ahead of me.

I see a man wearing rubber boots, yet there are no sheep to be found.

Which is Buster?

The red under the old white paint is the orginal red gelcoat from about 1970. The red on top is paint. It's 18 feet long and was built down by the old Bayshore Hotel in Vancouver for my dad. But it has a new 90HP Mercury ...new in 1979.

It's rigged with Scotty electrics and a new 9.9 Mercury.

PS: I really like Pang's boat; perhaps a Hourston will be my next ride.

PPS: Here's an idea ...post an image of your ride. I especially like a work in progress.

the front end really looks like double eagle/hourston style.
ps was that shop where it was built by the old Trader Vics restaraunt?
