The totally inadequate, biased and unfair allocation system in place for Canada’s Pacific halibut is about to create a short season disaster for local anglers. A new SFI website dedicated to the halibut issue has everything needed to understand and deal with the halibut situation. The web site can be reached at www.sfibc.com.

"-Boundaries for Halibut are from Cowichan Bay around to Owen Point and running one mile out from shore."

Can you elaborate a little on this ?
one mile would prohibit fishing Constance for example...

Correct ?

Paul, great project but just wanted to correct you on the Charters Ck name. It is a salmon interpretive centre, the hatchery component is primarily a demonstration facility with a very small production. It like the interpretive building is an educational not production facility. The fish that will be raised will be released to help augment the Charters system. However, having kids and the public able to observe the workings of a hatchery is the reason for it being added to the project . I'm sure you knew this but others reading this may not. There is already a long standing and well run production hatchery in the community.

why no halibut under 20lbs (promotes tripping). Why not have a hidden weight instead. Time to change the mentality..

Hidden weight is great but when it is an all South Isalnd Derby, it is difficult and not fair when some anglers would have to travel a couple hours just to weigh in a undetermined weight fish. Also, I have to ask what (tripping) is.
Thanks the for input, we are all in it together.

high grading.. keeping a smaller fish until you catch a bigger one then throwing the small fish back dead.

You ever fished haly in the jdf area before f4a. While fishing has been better than ever in the last couple seasons you don't have to worry about tripping on to many days.

Might have to dish out a 100 bones.

No need It's A Go MARCH 1/11 HALI OPENS POSS 1/2
