Spawning Day @ Nanaimo River Hatchery

Sunday November 3rd 10am-3pm the Nanaimo river hatchery is having a spawning day fundraiser. There will be chum spawning demonstrations, guided stream walks to see the salmon spawning, a dissection station, fish painting, adopt a fish and release, salmon bbq and more. Entry is by donation and everyone is welcome to enter the draw for a fishing charter donated by Big Chrome Charters. This is a great event that you don't want to miss. Put the rain gear on and come out to support your local hatchery.

Way to go Big Chrome Charters. Nice donation :).

Take the kids down there this Sunday folks. It should be a really good experience for everyone. This hatchery does really good work with a very small budget. Any help is greatly appreciated and goes to a great cause. These folks do a lot of work to keep local rivers and waters alive with fish. Head on down there to help them out and have some fun.

Nice I will be taking the kids nothing better then supporting a local hatchery and all the people that donate all their time hope to see lots of people down there for this great cause

Hats off to those that put on the event. I spent the better part of the morning there with my kids and a great time was had by all. Turn out seemed good too! Any idea how much money was raised and who won the chartered fishing trip?

Spawning day was a huge success! The sunny weather was awesome and it look like everyone enjoyed themselves. People were very generous with donations and the hatchery raised around 5,000 dollars. The Ford family was the lucky winner of the fishing charter donated by Big Chrome Charters. A big thank you too all the donor's and volunteers that helped to make it a success!
