Two salmon enhancement projects in Nanaimo are among 12 on Vancouver Island that will receive funding this year from the TimberWest Forest Comp.
The Nanaimo Fish & Game Protective Society's project on the Millstone River and the Nanaimo River Stewardship Society' project on Haslam Creek will receive a portion of the $70,000 the forest company provides annually to volunteer-driven community groups engaged in improving salmon habitat in streams located on, or near, TimberWest's private lands.
The projects include fish habitat assessment and rehabilitation.
