Rainbow Trout and Steelhead Anglers Needed!

Researchers from Carleton University are looking for B.C. recreational anglers to complete an online survey investigating perceived threats to rainbow trout and steelhead fisheries in this province. The survey is part of a much larger University of British Columbia-led interdisciplinary project, "Sustaining Freshwater Recreational Fisheries in a Changing Environment," funded by Genome Canada and Genome BC. Questions or concerns about the survey can be sent to Amanda Jeanson at amandajeanson@cmail.carleton.ca.

This seems to be a worthwhile survey but when I touted it when it was posted earlier I told it was too "climate change" oriented. Whatever. Carleton University's Steven Cooke works closely with Scott Hinch and his high end researchers from UBC.
It's all good, imo.

Another issue it overlooks is that a huge amount of effort in BC wrt rainbow is for stocked rainbow in Interior lakes, most of which would be devoid of fish if not for Freshwater Fishing Society. Survey should focus on “wild stock” fisheries, as the highly managed small lakes fisheries in this province are largely immune to most of the effects the survey seeks to assess.

Cheers!
