Measure your boat with a simple Voltage leakage tester.
If you need to borrow one I have several that I use as loaner's for the benefits of members use. It's easy switch a simple 7 functional volt meter to 2000m.
Quickly connect the red probe to the downrigger cable while cable is submerced in a water medium.
Now finally connect the black probe to the -negative marked terminal on your boats 12 volt lug of the battery(just quickly connect it securely to the - lug)
You might need longer test leads for this. Also when working with any power supply it is most important to understand proper safety measures. Such as a watch. A bare metal watch can arc and be very dangerous. May cause severe burning of skin.
Be cautious!
Make your zincs smaller if you read .5 V. or more!
Make sure your boat is bonded(grounded) corrosive free.
