Port Alberni - Area 23 - SFAC Meeting

Hi guys, the Area 23 SFAC meeting is going to be Monday, October 27th at 7 p.m. at the Kiwanis Hut at the Fall Fair in Port Alberni. Its open to public, and if you have some local issues that you would like discussed, bring them forward, or pass them on and I will bring them to the meeting.

Some of the issues we will be discussing are:

1. Update on Robertson Hatchery (net pen project)
2. Chinook update
3. Sockeye Fishery (this was a hot item; particularly impact of commercial fishery on recreational fishery and navigational safety)
4. S-1 Chinook program update - Carol should be there to provide details of how Sarita River S-1's faired this fall
5. Halibut update
6. Tuna issues
7. Update on Harvest Round Table

If anyone has other agenda topics, please advise and we will get them added.

Meeting is open to public as stated and would love to see SFBC forum members attend please.

Log books and safety issues - there were a few questions this year advanced through to the Coast Guard.

Sorry, and the other major safety issue that we heard a lot about was conflicts with gill netters blocking the entire Alberni inlet from safe passage. I will start a separate thread to collect updated input as this was a real barn burner of an issue during sockeye season.
