Nitinaht Lake's potential for eco-tourism

    Well it's the future of the tourism business in BC that's for sure.

    Look at how quickly the sturgeon catch and release fishery on the Fraser has grown. Easy access and substantial population nearby, more or less year round season, minimal impact, big game fishing without massive investment or travel needed. Good components for a new sector, with people willing to invest and achieve true professional status because it's year round. I've no doubt one of those 20-22 ft jet boat rigs is a $100K hit, but when you have the potential of 200+ revenue days each year, it looks like better math than a west coast salmon/hali operation at 70-80 days. Sturgeon guiding will rapidly become one of the big players in the eco-tourism industry.
