New Posts - not current

When you open the "New Posts" page it displays posts that are from much earlier in the day. I have refreshed my web browser, but that does not update the page. Not a big deal, but something the admins might want to look at.

Hey BG.....I am seeing them just fine. Is it possibly be due to the fact you've looked at all the threads? Here is a screen shot of what I see when I hit new posts.

See there are a few from all day....and a few I think which may be from the last time I hit "New Posts".

I dont know why but the posts I have displayed are from 6:30 - 10:45 this morning. None of the current posts are being displayed. This is on Firefox from Linux. Not sure why.

After I initially posted this and no one else seemed to be experiencing this I thought maybe I was just not doing something right. I made a simple comment after doing a quote of a post to test the quote feature today. After I made the post I went to the new posts page and my new post was nowhere to be seen. I had to go to to my member page "recent activity tab" to even figure out which thread I had made the post in. This is definitely not my imagination. Not sure why but sometime the new post activity is not updated on the new posts page.

Just thought about this. Maybe your own posts don"t register on this software as a new unread post and therefore aren't displayed on the new posts page. The old software always displayed my own posts on the new posts page. Maybe this version is different. Is this just me experiencing this?

Weird, now I see that my new posts are listed on the right hand side of the forums new posts column. But, if I access the new posts via the new posts tab, the posts are much older. Definitely something strange going on with the new posts functionality I'd say.

I've found the same thing

I find the new posts.....are fine whether I see them in the right hand side as seen below or by clicking "New Posts". They seem to coincide and be the proper timeline. Sometimes after hitting New Posts you won't see anything if you've read the posts in question and then you'll see a hyper link to "Most Recent Posts".

But this was just a few moments ago and seems to be right on time for me?

Yes that is what it is. Your own posts do not register if accessed via the new posts tab. This thread just appeared after you made a post. The new posts column does update with your own new posts, but the new posts tab does not. Very confusing, but at least the mystery is solved. This feature may really confuse new users unless the settings can be adjusted.

I was actually responding to Cravens postv Pip. We must be experiencing different things because it is definitely out of sync for me

I think I know what you mean because in the other software if I replied to a thread....I had obviously viewed it but it would stay in the "New Posts" view no matter what, generally for a few hours as the "New Posts" search query quite often will bring up the same thread for 3-4 hours at times. If I reply to a thread and nobody does after me it will still come up in a search query just bumped down in the results.

Here.....the search query cache clears itself once you've viewed or posted on a thread. This may be a back end setting among many that Chris and Brian will have to investigate and see what can be done.

I see what your saying Pip. Your saying this is normal that that the new posts tab shouldn't display posts you have read or made yourself, as you have already viewed them. However, this is very different from the functionality of the new posts page with previous software. It is also at odds with the new posts displayed on the right hand column. One is updated with all the newest threads, and the other is not. That will be confusing for new users. Now that I know what is going on, I have no problem with this. The purpose of the testing is to discover pitfalls for new users. I think this discrepancy will definitely be confusing to new users.
