Just make sure you troll in the thermoclines and you be ok.

Yeah I agree with Craftycarper re. the thermocline level of the lake which is a comfort zone for the fish. The use of a fish finder like the Humminbird Wide Portable which I have helps me locate fish and the thermocline level specially during those hot summer months.

Even if you have a fish finder or not make sure when trolling to count the amount of pulls when letting your line out so that you'll remember next time you troll the same area whether or not you should pull more line out or not. Remember to do "S" Curves and Stop and Go motions when trolling, these actions will allow the lure to swim in different patterns which will attract the fish.

Rapala Lures are excellent specially the Jointed and Countdown Lures. Other excellent lures are Hotshots and Kwikfish or Flatfish Lures in the frog colors; another great color is the black with gray and silver speckles. Just make sure to replace the treble hooks into a single barbless Gamakatsu hook by the tail area.

Good luck and tell us how you did.

Thanks for the help. Why do I have have to take the tail hook off?
I don't have a fish finder so basiclly I just troll around the lake the same everytime.Usually only catching 10 to 15 inch fish.I have some flat fish but they seem alittle big for those small fish.Maybe I should try them anyways.

thanks again

The reason to replace the treble hooks to a single barbless hook is because the Freshwater Fishing Regulations states that most lakes requires that a lure should only have one single barbless hook (check the Freshwater Fishing Regulations to verify).

Rapala Lures often have two treble hooks therefore, remove both treble hooks and place a single barbless hook at the tail end.

With a Flatfish sometimes it works best if you attach a small split ring to the belly ring, then a tiny swivel, then a siwash hook to that.
It's a bit of monkeying around to determine the proper size of ring/swivel/hook but when you get the right sized hook that hangs right by the tail the plug will work great.

that's why there's a warranty!
