Hi guys. Remember me! I was asking for advice on where to send my husband for an unforgettable fishing experience for his 50th birthday. I really appreciated your feeback, and after doing a bit more research, decided that Prince Rupert would be a great choice for him. I've booked air tickets for early August.

Now for my next question: does anyone have any recommendations with respect to accommodations and a guide? Or is there a better way to do it. While I don't mind spending some money, I don't really want to break the bank either. Help!!!!

Note that the website as given above is for an outfit that does Freshwater fishing out of Terrace-that is to say that the Salmon they target aren't feeding at all-is that what you want?
They contract a saltwater guide but their main focus is fishing the many rivers in the Terrace area-which is fun but not nearly as productive/interesting or varied as the Saltwater fishery.
(The guy who answered your question tries to be helpful but has poor listening skills-he is notorious here.)

As to acommodation Prince Rupert is something of a one horse town-there are hotels/motels but nothing of distinction.
Try http://www.tourismprincerupert.com/ for info.
As to Guides one of the best in town is http://www.primetimeadv.com/bc_fishing.html
Also http://www.terryscharters.com/
http://www.citytel.net/reeling/

In any case you'll be paying $500-$800/day to fish-that should include fileting/vacuum packing and freezing all your fish and insulated fish boxes to transport your frozen fish home</u>.
This is important!!!!!.
You don't want someone handing you a plastic bag with a 30# Spring Salmon and saying "have a nice day"!
Or a 60# Halibut!!!
WTH are you going to do with all that fish in one piece???
Ask about having some fish smoked/canned as well.
Take warm clothes-a toque and gloves are essential for early mornings but you may need sunscreen/glasses as well!

How was he wrong? She asked for a good guiding service in the area and he gave her one? Also saltwater is not always better than fresh maybe its just your opinion.

I just spent my first summer fishing in Prince Rupert, it is a greata place to fish, on both the salt and fresh.

If you are coming to Rupert for big fish I would suggest you come a little earlier, perhaps the end of June to mid July for big Chinooks.

All of the guide outfits mentioned so far are top notch. Haida Fishing is quite expensive, however they also use a brand new Boston Whaler Conquest 255. A very nice boat.

You may also want to look at Northern Bounty Charters. Guide Kevin Wylie is very knowledgeable. That said there is a ton of knowledgeable charter operators in Rupert.

Best of luck
