Herring Jigging Comox Fanny Bay Denman?

Has anyone been out and tried to jig some bait? I see a few pictures of active spawn right now, but I can't get away this weekend, it will have to be next (Mar 18th). Will that be too late? Thanks!

Hard to say-- but the main schools will probably have finished and retreated to deeper water before heading out. I try to pick off my bait just as they first start to spawn. And they will take a jig even in a few feet of water while spawning-- but they get pretty squishy !!

Spawn was full on at Bates on Wednesday. A friend was out that day, took in a good haul.

Looking for a place to jig herring from shore (or near to shore with a small row boat) between Chemainus and Parksville this weekend. Anyone know of spots that are in spawn right now in that stretch that are accessible from shore? Thanks.
