Is anybody using this transducer for salmon fishing?, if so how is the performance? thanks

Panoptix is a very powerful option but only a select few units (Garmin only) have the capability. Due to the extra cost for the secondary transducer I don't know of anyone who uses it yet. I've played around with it in Demonstration mode and can see how it would be useful to mark fish ahead of the boat, within a 60 degree cone, and troll to those targets with my baits at the correct depth. My Garmin doesn't support Panoptix but neither does my bank account. If it did I would get it in a heartbeat.
There is some good info on this system on www.thehulltruth.com. Also some great youtube videos.
The guy named semperfi (Gil Travis) sells this stuff & is an ex-Navy Sonar GURU. I bought my Garmin CHIRP from Gil; he knows his stuff but as he is in the SE USA Salmon fishing is not something he has done.
I have been using Garmin on my boat for 15 years now & the support is great; really happy with the CHIRP.
