first unguided trip

i am planning my first trip to the coast without a guide. where would some good places be to go for salmon/hali. also buying a boat and was wondering what i should stock it with. downriggers,gps,radio,rods,reels,ect. any help would be great

When are you coming ?
Depending on the time of year there are a variety of spots to consider.
Look into the guide for boaters for all the safety gear you are required to carry, it would also be a great idea to check on the weather systems coming in, if you have the ability to leave on short notice you can get here quickly and take advantage of good weather, nothing worse than coming all this way and getting blown out by some heavy winds.
