Crab hoops

I am looking for some large (36" or bigger) crab hoops with rope and the works...I am looked all over for them, however I can't find them...Please help...Thanks...Kris

1" PVC pipe filled with sand and joined and glued with a dowel makes nice inexpensive round ones.

If I would make my own,...where would I get the netting to make it?? I have no problem doing the pvc tube thing, but the netting is what bothers me..Kris

Trotac in Victoria sold me slightly used commercial netting in the past for prawn traps

Capital iron(downstairs) is where the old man got his i think, The Sooke trading post on the Corner of Otter point and Sooke Rd usually has it too. He just wove the net through the PVC, doweled and glued it.

I used a few big bicycle rims I found in a recycling srap metal pile just cut out the spokes.Used Zap straps to secure the mesh and hung a crabline weight to the underside of the mesh in the middle. Works great!!!! Now I want to head in to a Kingcrab zone one of these days and try to catch acouple of them!!!!!

i have seen some in crappy tire , but they might be only around 24-30"
