Spent Sunday afternoon to Thursday morning at Hakai Land and Sea Fishing Club. Very interesting place with an amazing history, that is run as a not for profit society, but more on that in a different post.
As with most other posts, fishing was spotty but did turn on the last day for me and my fishing partner. The Chinook were on the smaller side with my biggest being 20 lbs and the Coho made up the bulk of the catch for the the entire group with most of them averaging about 13 lbs and the largest coming in at 17. Managed to keep 2 Chinook and 3 Coho for the trip as well as a couple of teen sized Ling. Even though fishing was a grind, I thoroughly enjoyed the trip and was constantly reminded that this is one of the most spectacular places on earth. The scenery, Humpback whale shows, the beach fires, and the pure enjoyment I derive from cut plug style fishing made we want to stay there for the balance of the summer! I even manged to bump into a forum member, as Sharphooks was on his annual sojourn to the Central Coast with his new ride and favourite four legged companion aboard.

Anyone have any experience or tips for rivers inlet and hakai pass for this time of year? Doing my first trip up there next week

Hakai is certainly a beautiful place. I've been up twice and never really had great fishing but the scenery is awesome as seen in admin's photos. A beach fire and a beer after a day on the water is tough to beat.
Not wanting hijack the thread but I've got a central coast trip planned for this week. Heading to rivers inlet tomorrow for 5 days! Rivers is one of the few areas on the coast I've yet to experience so I'm excited to check it out.... and maybe even catch a few fish! I'll be staying at Duncanby lodge and we have a guided boat. Will be up there for the grand opening of the new hatchery at the head in a few days which should be fun times as well. Anyone have any suggestions on areas to check out (for fish or scenery or history) please advise. I hope to be able to post a pic next week of me releasing a 50+..... though I won't hold my breathe on that one.

First light at drainy inlet can be very productive for the big hogs. Have caught and released quite a few over 30 there, the biggest being over 50. Good luck it's a great place to be. Duncanby by is a great lodge.
