Big Hissen Loud Mean Bugs

Fourteen years I have this bug come out of the ground july 5th .mean bug is a 2" larva that feeds on roots of douglas fir .Tonight one flew in my ear.This one is 1.5".There defence is to Hiss loudly and attack and show jaws.yes som of the bug goo ended up in my ear. What is this bug ? its 10 days late.

My wife and I use to take the kids to a campground on the little Qualicum river every summer for years.

Every year in the same week, like clockwork, those June Bugs would start crawling out of the ground. Some people (bug haters) weren't down with them as they were flying everywhere, dropping out of trees and crawling on everything.

The Robins were down with it though. Running around the campground gobbling them up.
