All the Smallmouth

Hello guys (and gals?)
I have discovered bass fishing and found this place in an attempt to lose my "newbie-ness".
I have lived in Crofton all my life(31 years!) and have fished locally when I was younger but only for the teeny tiny trout we have here.
So now I have tried bass fishing in Fuller lake with a lot of success but was wondering where are your fav hotspots.
I know of Quesnel lake, St Mary's, Elk lake and Fuller. We even have bass in Crofton lake now! If anyone wanted to share their secrets that would be great.

Elk lake is a nice easy one to learn my favourite method (plastics) <img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle><img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>
Texas rigged 4-6" tequila sunrise power worm fished very slowely over structure should see immediate results. Fish the shallows early and late and the deeper areas during the day. I find artificial's outfish the real thing on a consistant basis.
I had an hour at Langford lake this morning casting to the private docks, hooked 7 and landed only 2 (barbless hooks) biggest 3.5lb, bait was immitation crayfish "Carolina" rigged to 1/0 worm offset hook. Braided line is a must :)

I too have fished Elk, at least two times a year, and there are some beauts in that piece of water.
I have had alot of success with 4" SinkSlos rigged weightless, fished on the drop off shoals just North of the rowing club.
I have also been outfished with a 3" Popper in the early evening.
locate a drop off or deep water structure and fish it thoroughly with a Carolina Rig craw, tube, curly tail worms, ring worm or 4" lizzards. I like to earthy colours, green pumpkin, watermelon, rootbeer, motor oil, etc...
I only use 8 lb. Berkley XL monofilament to a 6 lb. leader on the Carolina rig.
If you need to know how to rig your plastics differently check out our website - www.reactionbaits.com in the rigging section.

Oh, that page was a must have! Thanks.
Since Fuller lake has been my only experience to date I haven't had any luck with plastics. But we have been taking a ton with surface poppers. On my 5th cast one morning I caught 2 bass at once with a Rapala frog-coloured popper. I so wish I had a camera. At least my neighbour was with me to varify this fish story.
Thanks for the tips guys. Keep em coming.

The largest bass I have caught so far a from Shawnigan Lake. I fish the west arm around the docks and island rocks.
I have fished many other lakes but Shawnigan still produces 5+ lb smallies regularly.
Langford Lake in Victoria produces huge bass, but not on a regular basis and I find that lake more difficult to fish with regular success than Shawnigan.

I whole heartedly agree with Bill, Shawnigan Lake is, in my opinion, one the of the best smallmouth lakes around. There are so many places to fish on this lake, islands, rock humps, drop offs, docks and pilings. If I could fish one lake for the rest of my life that would be the one. It is a beautiful piece of water with incredible scenery.
The last time I was there we could do no wrong. We caught them on topwaters, crankbaits, spinnerbaits, any soft plastics at just about every piece of structure we stopped at.
This is a great lake for learning how to fish different types of presentations and they way fish hit them.

Just talking about makes me want to load everything up and hit the next ferry.

Thanks for re-awakening the memory Bill..
