Fished cap today from 1030-430
Nothing at all until a 4lb Hatch ho at about 1. Didnt see others getting much either.
Then like clockwork at low slack, starting at 230 got 4-5 more hits. 3 springs, 2 of which were undersized and one 12 lbs.
Bite died around 330 for us.
All bites on anchovy...
Any cap reports ?
Heading out tmrw from NA, seems like sandheads is a gamble or else could head to cap for a mud puppy .. I'm thinkin cap at this point
SH this evening report:
Fished 430-7
Got 2 fish on, both nice ones. First one spit the hook. Second one got caught in a dang crab trap line and broke mainline.
Both were hooked in 50ish feet of water right around the green can. Right at low tide change - 530- 6pm.
Then topped the night off...
A quick report on my trip to kyuquot:
Fished for seven straight days, and now I am feeling it! Sore back from dragging up halis, fighting dozens of salmon and getting thrashed around in the high seas.
Fished mostly either at whales tail or else spring island. Whales tail had tons of wild coho...
I am heading to Walters cove tomorrow for 7 days. Thanks Pippen for the intel.
First time to kyoquot, so planning to try inside around spring island and offshore and see where the fish are. Will report back how it goes. Also have tuna gear, will give that a shot as well.
Pippen, by the reef...
Hump today from 12-330. 5 coho to the boat, but only one hatchery plus missed a few other bites. Fish were biting from 25-60 feet. Got em on white hootchies and anchovies. Seemed to be pretty steady action while we were there.
It's a shame wild are non retention as it seems they are so abundant...
Started today at QA. Couple of shakers , then headed to the bell. One keeper there about 70cm. Got it on a 3.5" herring aid spoon at 145 deep. A bunch more shakers and missed a good pin poppa to finish the day. Saw a good number of boats hooking up, so the fish are there. Good bite on before low...
Just left sandheads.
We fished from 1130 -4 and got lots of grilse and eventually 2 keepers a 24 and a 13.
Fishing 5.5" anchovies 50 - 75 feet. Fish were in 80 - 120 feet of water.
It's a little late report but was up at ukee last weekend.
Fished big bank last Thurs. Didn't find the one fire fishing, but did great on halis trolling. We ended up with 2 Springs 8, 12 lbs and 2 15 lb halls, but a nice 71lb 125cm thick one hit the brown turd on the troll.
Took Friday off...
Fished QA this evening from 430-7 . Got into about 7 fish. 2 keepers and lots of unders. Lost one other keeper at the side of the boat. One double header and overall pretty consistent action.
Then pulled crab traps off pt grey (no poachers !) And hauled in 10 nice crabs.
Fish were on skinny...
Saw one boat keep one, but nothing for us. Seems like some algae bloom from 25' down is out there. Lines kept coming in with bits of sludge on them
Done for the day now. No keepers, and a few crabs
Good luck
