I upgraded from the big chief smoker I’d been using for decades.
I have the 4 rack non digital Bradley. I wish I had the digital for better temp control. I assumed the non digital would perform better at managing the temp than what it does. Next time, I’ll go digital.
I don’t like using the swivel, I feel
It alters the action of the spoon a little bit negatively. I won’t argue though, that the swivel does stop lost fish when they start what I refer to as “the crocodile roll”.
My Honda 20 was doing exactly this. After much screwing around, I replaced the spark plugs even though they looked great. New plugs, ran like a champ after.
One world, one reel. Hardy Longstone.
They’ll never win a beauty contest, but they are simple and tough as nails. ….and the sound… nothing sings like a Hardy with a smiley on the other end of the line. :)
These fish are followed by people who value them highly. I doubt anyone will tell you where to catch some this time of year, to eat. ;-)
I caught hordes of searuns in the 1970’s. They were plentiful in those days and I ate a lot of them. I agree that they are very delicious, but I couldn’t...
I ran pink hootchies the other day for a spell, they have never let me down with coho, until a couple days ago. I switched to green spoons and it was game on.
Sport fishing on the fly. It’s not all about showing products from sponsors so much.
I like Cooper’s shows, too. To be fair, I watch them all and they’re all fun to watch.
I saw a red and white float, a newer one, tangled in a kelp island a few days ago right off Macaulay point in pretty tight to shore. I was going to pull it when I went back to the launch but forgot.
Could be anywhere now I reckon, unless somebody else pulled it.
I’ve pulled a few before...
I have a Karavan boat trailer. She needs a bit of TLC. Wheels and springs. I believe it’s rated for 2100 pounds. I have purchased a new trailer so this one must go.
The trailer is currently totally functional and even has brand new bearings. The wheels are rusty but they roll and work.
500...
It was bad yesterday with people going all over the place, there was no order to it at all. I saw one guy driving up on plane almost hit another boat trolling. I’ll bet it was within 15 feet.
Right rod to shore keeps order.
Be careful out there.
I can’t stand it when people drive through the pack of boats that are fishing at just the right speed to throw maximum wake. Extra idiot points if you tear into the middle of the fishing fleet, stop your boat and fight with your crappy kicker while setting up your gear to make sure everyone...
It’s funny, 10 years ago you couldn’t give this old Peetz gear away. Now….
I use a 6 inch Peetz reel and the Peetz rod with pulley guides as a halibut setup.
You know the old saying…. “The best time to go fishing is when you can”. And now with these ridiculous rules, we wait all year for August. Make hay while the sun shines.
