About to purchase one of these and wonder if any members have one and can comment about it's towing ability. I believe it has 3.73 gears with the towing package. Won't be towing anything over 7000 pounds

Datapoint, I pull my 16' Fibreglass with the 1.6 Ecoboost. lol

My overall fuel economy in the 5 years I've had it is 9km/litre. Mix of city, highway and towing the little boat to the lake from Langley. No hills.

Gently rolling on the throttle accelerating from a stop slowly is key with these Ecoboosts. Same with on the highway, don't mash the throttle.

I'm more of a spool up the turbo kind of guy...

It'll pull it....it's the stopping that's you might not like! Those trucks are VERY light.
And I know you won't like the fuel consumption when pulling!

i think the 2.7 ecoboost you are thinking of getting is a little under powered to tow 7000 lbs but it will do it.

Skip the Eco's and get the 5.0L
I keep a #100 sandbag in the back of my '17 to help keep the wheels on the road and it rides a little better too.

My buddy had the 5.0 and really liked it. It had good gas mileage and was probably better than the eco when towing. Almost best of both worlds, and will be a LOT cheaper to fix after warranty if the turbos go. Or get a Chevy 5.3.

Love my 5.0L. I get 16 litres per 100km lifetime.

My buddy likes his ecoboost, it tows his 19' bayliner well, but he's had a couple problems with it. He's like 16.2 so almost the exact same consumption. His is '13 mines a '14.

Similar experience with my '16 5.0 I'm at 13.9l/100. My buddy with the '16 2.7 eco is at 14.7 l/100. He has to drive 2k up a steep hill every night. I forget what year they switched to mostly aluminum. Might be after the above '13 and '14.
Both tow well, but neither of us has tried 7000lbs. They are rated higher than that I think.
The '18 has 10 speeds which is probably better than the 6 I have.
5.0 is cheaper usually.

BINGO, buddy had the ecoboost, traded it in 6 months later for the 5.0L and loves it, me i am waiting for the diesel in the 150, should be arriving any day on the lots

I have a 2012 3.5 litre Ecoboost which gets 15.8 l per 100 km in town which includes a small amount towing my boat. My boat is a 21.5 ft. Campion Explorer which is usually loaded pretty heavily and the truck tows it with ease, I have not towed anything heavier.

If you aren't looking for a new model, I would suggest a 2014 with the 5.0L. They handle the weight of towing better than the 2015/2016 aluminum bodies in my opinion and you'll save yourself some money. I'm not sure how the newest models are. We have one of each at work.

I just got a brand new f150 5.0 with the 10 speed at work .It's got 6500km on it and I have averaged 14.5l/100km. It's a nice truck to drive. The 10 speed feels a bit weird at times, almost like its lugging and doesn't want to downshift. Good on fuel though for a truck with around 400 horsepower.

I had a look at some of our Fords, all with the 5.0L and 3.73 gears.

2013 - 126,000km: 15.3L/100
2014 - 62,000km: 15.3L/100
2017 - 14,000km: 14.6L/100

If the average price is $1.25 over that time, this is what it cost for your fuel.

2013 - 126,000km: 15.3L/100 = $24,097.40
2014 - 62,000km: 15.3L/100 = $11,857.45
2017 - 14,000km: 14.6L/100 = $2,554.99

Wow.

A bike should totally do the trick.
